The Pick-up Artist is a reality show on VH1 which focuses on groups of male contestants attempting to improve their “game,” or how they meet and attract women. Contestants have historically been unsuccessful in meeting women before and usually suffer from some related psychosis like stumbling over their words or approach anxiety. The lead host of the show and the "pickup master " is seduction artist Mystery (Erik von Markovik). Mystery and his wingmen, J-Dog and Matador, over eight episodes, teach and guide the contestants in meeting potential mates in various locations, such as coffee shops and night clubs. The contestants of the show compete with each other through a series of challenges. Most of the challenges on the first season involved picking up women in different situations, such as on a bridge during the day or in a nightclub. Some of the challenges were more novel, such as the second to last challenge where the men had to pick up a stripper, described by Mystery as "the ultimate challenge".

The first season began on August 6, 2007, and aired weekly until the series finale on September 24, 2007. It took place in Austin, Texas.

The second season began on October 12, 2008.
